Congo Squares or Blonde Brownies Recipe

2 3/4 C Sifted flour
2 1/2 t baking powder
1/2 t salt
2/3 C shortening
2 1/4 C brown sugar
3 eggs
1 C chopped nuts
1 pkg choc. chips

Mix and sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Melt shortening and add brown sugar.
Stir until well mixed.
Allow to cool slightly.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add dry ingredients, then nuts and chocolate chips.
Pour into greased pan, 101/2 X 15 1/2 inches.s
Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes.
When cool, cut into squares.
