1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. light corn syrup
2-1oz. unsweetened baking chocolate*
1 tsp. vanilla


*3 T. cocoa (level) and 1 T. shortening or oil = 1 sq. (1 oz.) of unsweetened baking chocolate

Directions:

Mix all ingredients except vanilla in iron skillet or heavy saucepan. Stir over low heat until shortening melts. Bring to a full boil, stirring constantly. Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat and beat until lukewarm. Add vanilla and continue beating until smooth and creamy. Cover cake.
