1 gallon thin-sliced cucumbers (unpeeled)
1 large sliced onion (or more)
4 c. sugar
1/4 c. salt
4 c. vinegar
1 1/3 tsp. each: turmeric, celery seed, and mustard seed.

Directions:
Directions:
Wash and slice cucumbers, layer with onion to fill jars. Combine remaining ingredients to form a syrup. Stir syrup well to dissolve sugar and salt (do not heat); pour over cucumbers. Screw on lids; refrigerate 5 days before using. Tip jar occasionally to mix spices. Syrup can be re-used when pickles are gone; just slice in more cucumbers and onion. Keep refrigerated
