Lemon Bread


Ingredients:

6 tbs Crisco
1 c sugar
Grated peel of one lemon
2 eggs, well beaten
1 1/2 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix Crisco and 1 cup of sugar, beat until light and fluffy. Blend in lemon peel and eggs. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Alternately add milk and flour mixture, beating until smooth.

Place into a greased 8X4X3 loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes. If using a glass pan bake at 325. Let cool in pan for 5 minutes.
 

Glaze

Juice of one lemon
1/2 c sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Combine the lemon juice and sugar. Mix until the sugar is dissolved. Prick the top of the LOAF and pour the glaze over the top of the hot loaf

Let the bread remain in the pan until the glaze is absorbed. Remove and place on a wire rack until cool.
