1 cup shortening
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
2 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Mix in egg and vanilla.
Add dry ingredients gradually.
Add nuts.

Shape into long rolls 1" in diameter. Wrap in wax paper and chill for several hours.
Cut into slices and bake on greased cookie sheets @ 350 for 8-10 min.

This dough may be stored in refrigerator for a week or more and baked as needed.

It is an easy, make-ahead recipe and the cookies are delicious!
