Ingredients:
6 to 8 apples (use firm cooking apples)
2 pkgs cinnamon candies
6 cups water

Directions:
Directions:
Peel, core and slice apples.

Combine cinnamon candies and water in large pan on stove. Cook on medium heat until candy is dissolved.

Add apples and simmer until tender.

Remove from heat and let set overnight to absorb color. A little red food coloring may be added to darken the color.

Chill and serve alone or as garnish. Leftovers make good applesauce!

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This recipe is from Grandma Carolyn's little blue cookbook. It was passed down from Nonnie who used to serve cinnamon apples with holiday dinners. She also cooked the apples without slicing (as for baked apples), then filled them with waldorf salad for a cinnamon-y twist.
