Directions:
Mix yeast and 4 cups of flour. In a separate bowl, whip eggs, sugar, and oil. Make a well in your flour and pour egg mixture in. Then add warm water and stir gently until mixed. Add remaining flour and salt. Mix together and blend well. You may have to use your hands to mix thoroughly as the mixture will get thick. Put a little oil or lard on your hands to prevent sticking. Make a big round ball and put a little oil over the surface and then let rise. After 15 minutes punch down. Keep in a warm location. Let rise again for 15- 20 minutes. Punch down and form into buns. Put buns in a well greased pan; cover and let rise on the kitchen counter or in a warm place for 1 hour. Bake in a 350F oven for 15 to 18 minutes . Makes 4 to 5 dozen buns. Note: Recipe may be halved.

A very easy and quick homemade treat. Grandma Breault would slice off slices of raised bun dough and fry them in a frying pan in oil. Then sprinkle them with icing sugar. We call them Elephant Ears!
