2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. ground cloves
½ tsp. allspice
½ c. shortening or 1 stick of margarine
1¼ c. dark brown sugar or 1 c. white sugar
1 egg
1 c. thick applesauce
1 c. raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat over to 350º. Sift flour, add baking soda, salt and spices. Set aside. Cream shortening/margarine until light and fluffy, add sugar gradually, beating until fluffy. Add egg, beat well. Add dry ingredients alternately with applesauce. Fold in raisins. Bake in greased 9x9 pan, 40 to 45 minutes. Cake is done when toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
