1 pkg. yeast
2 tbsp. lukewarm water
5-5 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
3 tsp. baking powder
4 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
2 c. buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Sift together dry ingredients then cut in shortening. Add yeast & buttermilk to dry ingredients and knead enough to hold together; roll dough to 1/2 - 3/4 inch then cut with biscuit cutter. Fold biscuits in half. Bake at 400º for 15-20 minutes. Note: Dough may be chilled before baking or frozen for later use.
