5 cloves garlic mashed
1/4 tsp red crushed pepper flakes
2 dashes hot pepper sauce
1 Tbsp butter
1 pound fresh asparagus cut into 1 1/2 inches pieces
Salt to taste
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1/2 pound mostaccioli pasta, cooked and drained (you can substitute other pastas)

Directions:

Start by cooking your pasta and draining it.
In a large skillet or cast iron pan cook the garlic, red pepper flakes and hot pepper sauce in the butter for about a minute.
Add the asparagus, salt and pepper.
Cook until the asparagus is tender-crisp. (8 to 10 minutes)
Stir in the cheese.
Pour over hot pasta, toss.
Serve immediately.

Several years ago our family took a cruise on the Costa Concordia (the ship that sank off Italy).
The pastas were amazing and every night, they would leave a pasta recipe in your cabin. This was my favorite.
