1 ½# GROUND BEEF
½ CUP BREAD CRUMBS, CRACKER CRUMBS OR OATMEAL
1 EGG, SLIGHTLY BEATEN
1 SMALL ONION, FINELY CHOPPED
DASH OF PEPPER
⅓ CUP WATER
1 CAN CREAM OF MUSHROOM SOUP
1 TSP BEEF BASE
1 CAN MUSHROOM OR FRESH MUSHROOMS SLICED AND SAUTEED IN BUTTER

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. In medium bowl, combine beef, crumbs, egg, onion and pepper. Shape into 6 patties and arrange in single layer in shallow baking dish. Bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes. Spoon off any fat. Combine remaining ingredients and spoon over patties. Continue baking 10 minutes or until sauce is hot. Serve with mashed potatoes and choice of veggie.
