¾ c shortening
1 c sugar
¼ c molasses
1 egg
½ t salt
2 t baking soda
1 t cinnamon
1 t cloves
1 t ginger
2 c flour

Sugar for rolling

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and molasses and mix well. Sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture. Form into walnut sized balls and roll in sugar. Place on baking sheets and flatten with glass bottom. Bake at 350º for 10-12 minutes.
