1 c sugar
1 c softened butter
1 egg
1 t flavoring
1 t nutmeg
¼ t salt
1 t baking soda
3 ½ c flour
½ c buttermilk/ sour cream

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg and flavoring until light and fluffy. Stir in nutmeg and salt. Mix baking soda into buttermilk in a larger measuring cup. Alternately mix flour and buttermilk into batter. Stir until well combined. Chill to firm up. roll out and cut with cutters. Place on parchment lined sheets. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes. Let cool on pan 5 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely. Frost and decorate.
