Mix in a large bowl with about 3 cups of flour, the grated potato mixture and crumbled bacon. pour into 9x13 pan that has been greased. Make sure the pan is deep enough to allow rising. pour 1/2 cup of vegetable oil on top/or bacon grease. Bake at 300 degrees for about 4 hours or until crusty or brown, remove the crust and eat it warm. cool the rest and slice and fry until nicely brown when you would want to serve again. |

Notes: This was my grandpa's signature dish( Your Great Grand-father.) We didn't nor did he have a processor to grate the potatoes so they would have to be grated by hand and it took a really long time. Back when he was a boy they didn't have a lot of money so potatoes were cheap. A lot of German's used potatoes to eat because they were so cheap. When I was a little around Christmas time he would make several pans of Kugel and we would eat it every morning. It is traditionally a Jewish dish, with Germany primary Jewish origin, a lot of the food was of Jewish decent.
