2 cups flour
2/3 cups sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder

3/4 cups butter or margarine
1 beaten egg
2 tsp vanilla

Filling of your choice (I used cherry preserves)

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together the flour, sugar and baking powder in mixing bowl
Blend together butter, beaten egg and vanilla in separate bowl.

Blend butter mixture into flour to form a dough with pastry blender.
Place on lightly floured board.
Divide dough into 4 parts.
Shape each into a roll 13" long and 3/4" thick.
Place on ungreased baking sheets 4" apart and 2" from edge.
Make a depression 1/4" deep down the center of each dough piece.
Fill depression with desired filling (preserves).
Bake in 350º F oven for approximately 15 to 20 minutes or until light golden brown.
Slice into diagonal bars while warm.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
