3 cups fruit
1 cup sugar (add more if really tart fruit is used)

1-1/2 cups flour
2 tbsp sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup milk
1 egg

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400°.

Place fruit and sugar into a greased 9x9 pan, then put it in the oven while it is preheating.

Sift together next four ingredients. Add the egg beaten into the milk and the butter.

Sir only until flour is moist and lumpy.

Spoon in gobs over the fruit in the pan, spreading it out as best you can.

Sprinkle with sugar on top.

Bake for 45 minutes or until the fruit is bubbling and the top is golden brown.

Serve warm with ice cream.

I love this recipe from my mom. It can be made with any fruit, but personally I prefer blackberries. The topping gets nice and fluffy and crisp.
