2/3 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 cups milk
4 egg yolks (save the whites for meringue)
4 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons vanilla
1-1/2 cups coconut

Directions:
Directions:
In a heavy saucepan, combine flour, sugar, salt, milk, butter and vanilla. Once the mixture is warm, add a teaspoon or so to the beaten egg yolks, tempering them. Once they are tempered, add them to the mixture in the saucepan, and cook the mix, stirring constantly, until it thickens and begins to boil. Stir in coconut. Remove from fire, and pour into pre-baked pie shell.
Top with meringue, add more coconut to decorate the top and broil until broiler for 2 minutes or so, until the meringue is lightly browned (watch constantly, it burns quickly).
