1 pound hamburger
1 egg
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 cup celery, chopped
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup bread crumbs
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons onion, minced
10 3/4 ounces can of cream of mushroom soup

Directions:

Beat egg. Celery is optional.

Combine first six ingredients and shape into oval patties about 1 - 2" thick. Using small amounts of butter, brown on both sides in skillet. Combine soup and water and pour over and around meat.

Cover and cook slowly for about 25 minutes. If desired, put potatoes around meat and cook longer. Soup and meat juices will make gravy without further thickening.
