1 cup shortening
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp salt
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3 eggs
2 tsp baking powder
4 cups flour

Icing
3 tsp butter
1/4 heavy whipping cream
pinch of salt
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup light brown sugar
2 cup powdered sugar

Directions:

Mix shortening and sugars together until fluffy. Add eggs, milk and vanilla. Mix well. Stir in baking soda, powder and salt. Add flour and mix until combined. Using cookie scoop drop onto parchment lined baking sheet, Using the back of wet spoon, smooth out the dome of the cookie. Bake at 350º for 10-12 minutes.

Icing
In medium pot, combine the butter, cream, brown sugar and salt. Cook over medium heat until it starts to boil. Stirring constantly. Turn heat down to low and add in the powdered sugar. Continue stirring until icing is smooth. Take off heat and add in vanilla. Spoon over cooled cookies. Icing will be runny but will very quickly set up.
