2 cups uncooked stone ground grits
¼ cup heavy cream
2 T butter
1 tsp salt
½ tsp pepper


Directions:
Directions:
Stir together grits and 6 cups of water in a 5-6 quart slow cooker. Let stand 1-2 minutes allowing grits to settle to the bottom. Skim off solids using a fine wire mesh. Cover and soak overnight or 8 hours.
Cover and cook on High 2 hours. Stir halfway through. Stir in cream and remaining ingredients. For cheese grits, stir in 1 cup shredded sharp cheese and ½ cup grated parmesian cheese.
