1 cup cornmeal
1 cup flour
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg, well beaten
1/4 cup melted bacon grease
1 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients and pour into a greased iron skillet. Bake in a pre-heated 425 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes.

Melt your bacon grease in your iron skillet in the over until good and hot. Carefully swirl the hot grease around to grease the pan. Pour the remaining melted grease into cornbread batter.

This is a recipe from Aunt Hattie. I have used it for years for cornbread and for dressing. It is better than mix cornbread.
