2 cups boiling water
cup sugar
2 cups Corn Meal
1 tsp salt
1 egg
cup flower*
1 tsp Baking Powder
tsp Baking Soda**
1 cup Buttermilk

Step 1
Add ingredients from this step in a large bowl and mix well, cover with a cloth and let stand overnight in a cool dry place.

Pre-heat oven to 400

Add ingredients from this step to prepared mixture. Then mix well by hand (20 seconds). Do not go overboard here.

Notes:
* Use all purpose flower
** Stir baking soda in buttermilk before adding to mix.

Step 3
Pre-heat oven to 400
Butter the bottom of a cast iron skillet.
Then add mixture to skillet and bake at 375 for 45-to-55 minutes

Grandmas measurements were approximated cause she used the "pinch", "smidge" and eye-ball method like only she could do. I remember asking Grandma for her Pone recipe and without Verena's help add still be experimenting to figure out the ratio of ingredients.
