1 package frozen blackberries, thawed and drained (reserve juice!)
¼ cup sugar
1 tablespoon plus 1 tsp cornstarch
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Crust:
1 cup sifted flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
3 tablespoons shortening
½ cup milk

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400º
Mix sugar and cornstarch. Stir in liquid from berries. Bring to a boil and boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in berries and lemon juice. Pour into 1½ quart baking dish. Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt into a bowl. Cut in shortening. Stir in milk. Drop blobs onto hot fruit. Bake approximately 30 minutes or until golden brown.
