1 quart of Half and Half
1 cups sugar
1 large egg yolk
cup flour
teaspoon vanilla
Dash of salt
4 tablespoons butter
Dash of nutmeg for top of pie filling

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dry ingredients well. Beat egg yolk and add a little of the dry ingredients into the yolk. In a double boiler heat the butter and the Half and Half until hot. Mix hot mixture into the dry ingredients and then back into the double boiler. Cook and stir frequently for approximately hour. Stir in the vanilla.
Pour into unbaked 9-inch, deep dish pie shell. Sprinkle the nutmeg on top. Bake at 400 degrees 15 to 25 minutes or until brown. If while baking, bubbles form on the pie filling, prick with a toothpick or long fork. Allow to cool before serving. Refrigerate as needed for storage.
