* 6 Tbsp butter
* 6 Tbsp shortening
* 1 cup brown sugar, packed
* 1 egg
* 1/4 cup dark molasses
* 2¼ cups all purpose flour
* 2 tsp baking soda
* 1/4 tsp salt
* 1/2 tsp cloves
* 1 tsp cinnamon
* 1tsp ginger
* sugar to coat cookie dough balls

Directions:
Directions:
Put butter, shortening, brown sugar, egg and molasses in a mixing bowl and beat on medium speed thoroughly. Blend dry ingredients in a bowl and add to shortening mixture. Beat on medium until well blended. Refrigerate to chill dough. Form into 1¼ inch balls and roll in sugar and place on a cookie sheet 3 inches apart. Bake at 350º for 10 to12 minutes, until cookies are set.
