Personal Notes:
Michael Krause was one of Jeff's friends in The Woodlands. His dad was a doctor with a large income. Jeff described the experience of being lost in their house because there were two staircases, and possibly an elevator (that could be a fig newton of my imagination). Jeff, being Jeff, asked Michael's mother for the recipe for her cookies. He baked them himself in order to get them out of the oven at just the right moment, before they were hard and crispy. Jeff was eight when we moved to Baltimore. He was a precocious baker.
