1 cup milk – scalded
2 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons salt
½ cup maple syrup
½ cup molasses
1 cup cold water
¼ cup warm water
2 packets Active Dry Yeast
1 ½ cups oatmeal
6 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Mix milk, butter, salt, syrup and molasses. Stir in cold water and cool until lukewarm.

Pour warm water into a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle yeast evenly over the top of water. Stir until yeast is dissolved.

Add cooled mixture, oatmeal and 4 cups of flour. Mix well.

If using a mixer with dough hooks – insert hooks now.

Add remaining flour and mix well. Knead either by hand or with dough hooks until elastic.

Shape into a ball and place in greased bowl with towel on top. Let rise in cool location for about 1 ½ hours or until doubled in size.

Punch down and knead light for 1 – 2 minutes. Divide dough in half. Shape each half into loaf. Place in greased loaf pans.

Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Preheat oven to 375ºF

Bake for 40 minutes until browned and hollow sounding when tapped. Turn out of pan and cool on rack.
