3 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
2 cups sugar
1 tsp soda

Combine above dry ingredients in large bowl.

3 eggs, beaten
1-1/2 cups oil
1 (8 oz) can crushed pineapple, undrained
2 cups (three large) bananas
1 cup pecans
1/2 tsp vanilla

Add eggs and oil, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened. DO NOT BEAT. Stir in pineapple, bananas, pecans, and vanilla. Spoon into three well-greased, floured cake pans. Bake at 350º for 30 minutes. Cool completely.
 

Cream Cheese Frosting

1 - 8 oz pkg cream cheese
1/2 cup butter
1 box powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla

Mix above ingredients to fill between the layers and frost. Garnish top of frosted cake with the pecans.

I got this recipe from Lawrence DeWees. He was the drilling superintendent when I worked for Rowan in high school. It was his Mother's recipe. I used to love to sit and listen to his stories. He had been a prisoner of war in World War II. I believe he was captured by the German's in Africa, if I remember correctly.
