Creme Brulee French Toast Recipe

C unsalted butter, one stick
1 C packed brown sugar
2 T corn syrup
1 (8-9") round loaf of Challah bread
5 large eggs
1 C half and half
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp Grand Marnier
tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
1. In a small saucepan, melt butter with brown sugar and corn syrup over moderate heat, stirring, until smooth. Pour mixture into a 13x9" baking dish.

2. Cut 6 (1 inch) slices from center portion of the bread and trim crust off.

3. Arrange bread slices in on layer in baking dish, squeezing them slightly to fit. In a bowl whisk together eggs, half and half, Grand Marnier, vanilla, and salt until combined well and pour evenly over bread.

4. Chill bread mixture, covered, at least eight hours and up to twenty four hours.

5. Preheat oven to 350 and bring bread mixture to room temperature. Bake for 35-40 minutes, uncovered, in the middle
of oven until puffed and edges are golden brown.
