1 cup macaroni, boiled in salt water to al dente
1 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 can canned milk
Crumbled saltine crackers

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350
Spray 9" or 10" glass pie plate or casserole dish with Pam

Cover the bottom of the pie plate with cooked macaroni.

Sprinkle the layer with crumbled crackers.

Repeat the macaroni and cheese layers.

Pour milk about halfway up the side of the pie plate.

Finish with crumbled crackers

My mother's family was not alone in the method of layers the macaroni, cheese, and crackers. Google revealed a few other "Southern" recipes which are similar. My mother and grandmother fixed mac and cheese this way. I didn't know there was any other way....
