1 loaf of French bread
Butter, softened
8 large eggs
2 cups half and half
1 cup milk, whole or 2 %
1 tbsp granulated sugar
4 tbsp brown sugar
1 ½ tsp cinnamon
1 ½ tsp vanilla
Dash of salt

Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk eggs together, then whisk in the half and half, and the milk with the eggs. Add the brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt, and whisk together. Cut loaf of French bread into 1" slices, and then tear each slice up into bite size pieces. Evenly layer the pieces of bread into a generously buttered 9" x 13" baking dish. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread. Use a spatula to mix and stir the bread around, ensuring all of the bread is saturated with the mixture.
 

Crumble Topping

5 tbsp brown sugar
5 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
4 tbsp cold butter
1 cup pecans, chopped (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Add brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and cold butter to a bowl. Use a pastry cutter or a fork to work the cold butter into the sugars, and cinnamon. Work together until it is all combined. Sprinkle the crumble evenly over the top of the dish. Then sprinkle pecans over the top. Bake in preheated oven at 350º for 40 - 45 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.

You can prepare the dish (minus the topping) the day before and cover it with foil and stick in the fridge overnight.
