1 cups unsifted flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 teaspoon cinnamon
teaspoon cloves
cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup raisins
cup cold coffee
1 cup shredded apples
cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350F.

In a large bowl, mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, cocoa, cinnamon, and cloves.

In another bowl, cream shortening and sugar. Beat eggs into the shortening-sugar mixture until fluffy.

In another bowl, soak raisins in coffee. Add in apples and nuts.

Alternately add flour mixture and coffee mixture to shortening mixture. Pour into a greased and floured 8-inch square pan. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes.
