1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup rye flour
1 cup corn meal
1/2 cup toasted sunflower seeds lightly chopped
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 cups buttermilk
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup black strap molasses

Directions:

Grease and dust with flour 2,1 lb seamless coffee can
Sift dry ingredients to make sure there are no lumps of soda or baking powder.
Stir liquid ingredients together with seeds.
Add to dry ingredients, stirring just enough to moisten.
Fill cans to two thirds full.
Cover cans with greased foil
Set cans in large port on top of a trivet or cooling rack or crumpled tin foil
Fill pot with boiling water, 1/2 way up the cans.
Cover pot and let bread simmer on very low heat for 3 hours.
