1/2 cup Shortening (Part Butter)
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2-2/3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup commercial sour cream

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, egg, sugar and vanilla thoroughly. Blend dry ingredients alternately with sour cream. Roll 1/4" thick. Sprinkle with sugar if desired. Bake at 425 for 8-10 minutes.

I got this recipe from Kay Ritter. We use them for the Friends of the Library cookie bouquets. It's also important to use half butter, half shortening for the right puffiness when you bake.
