2 1/2 lb ( 5 to 6 ) granny smith or golden delicious apples, peeled, cored, sliced 1/4 inch thick.
2-3 Tbsp sugar
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup uncooked rolled oats
1/3 cup flour
4 Tbsp ( 1/2 stick) unsalted, cold butter cut into small pieces.

Directions:
Directions:
Coat an 8 x 8 baking dish with butter.

Combine apples, sugar, cinnamon, 1/8 tsp salt in a large bowl and toss to coat.
Place this in the baking dish and set aside.

Using the same bowl, mix the brown sugar, oats and remaining salt. Blend in the butter pieces until small clumps form and the butter is mixed in. (2 minutes)

Sprinkle the topping over the apples.

Bake at 350 degrees until crispy and the apples are tender, about 50-60 minutes.

Let cool on rack 30 minutes before serving.
