1 8 oz. bag of chocolate Hershey Kisses
½ c shortening (or butter)
¾ c of peanut butter
⅓ c white granulated sugar
⅓ c light brown sugar, packed
1 egg, 2 Tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 ½ c All-purpose Flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt

Oven 375º
Remove wrappers from Kisses

Beat shortening and peanut butter in large bowl, stir until well blended. Add ⅓ c each of white sugar and (packed) brown sugar. Beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well.
Sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually beat into peanut butter mixture.

Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Roll in white granulated sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately, press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie. Cookies will crack around the edges. Remove from cookie sheet to a wire rack for cooling. Cool completely

Note from Kathy: Mom used to make these for bake sales for church.
To save time, I have used a roll of peanut butter cookie dough from the store, shaped into 1" balls, rolled in sugar-- and baked as above, putting the kisses in the middle after baking.
