4 oz. Baker's Chocolate
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
4 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 cups cake flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup buttermilk
4 egg whites, beaten stiff

Directions:
Directions:
Melt chocolate. Cool. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add yolks, 1 at a time, beating well after each. Blend in vanilla and chocolate. Sift flour and dry ingredients and add to batter alternating with buttermilk, beating after each addition. Fold in egg whites and pour batter into 3 prepared cake pans. Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes then remove from pans. Frost tops only with Coconut Pecan Frosting.

Grandma Ball used to make this on special occasions growing up. Of course, we can just use a German Chocolate cake mix but it won't be nearly as good.
