2 c. vanilla wafer crumbs, rolled fine (about 50 cookies)
1 c. finely chopped coconut or pecans
1 c. confectioners' sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa
2 tbsp. white corn syrup
1/3 c. rum, brandy, bourbon or rye whiskey

Extra confectioners' sugar or cocoa for rolling

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients well. Shape by teaspoonfuls into firm balls. Roll in confectioners' sugar or cocoa. Store tightly covered for at least a week (if you can) to develop the best flavor.

A true family legend! The adjective 'runny' was added to this recipe many years ago when a heavy hand was used in pouring the rum.
