1 lb (16oz) shredded extra sharp cheddar cheese
3 ½ sticks butter or margarine
4 cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 275º

Let butter and cheese come to room temperature. Cream them together. Add flour and cayenne pepper. Roll into small balls and press flat with your hand (you can also use a spritz cookie press). Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Cook until light brown. Cool completely and store in a tightly covered container.

I think Mom got this recipe out of the free paper TV guides that they used to give away in stores each week. Every week there was a different recipe, word puzzles, and articles in addition to the TV schedule.
