cup shortening
cup brown sugar
cup molasses
cup buttermilk or sour milk
tsp vinegar
3 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ginger
2 tsp cinnamon
tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Blend in molasses and 1 cup flour with the soda, spices and salt. Add vinegar and remaining 2 cup flour, alternating with the buttermilk. Chill dough and then roll out and use cookie cutters to cut out cookies. Bake at 375 F for 10-12 minutes.
