Beef-Shepherd's Pie Recipe

2 medium onions, finely chopped
6 T. butter
1 lb. ground beef
c. beef stock
1 T. ketchup
tsp. Worcestershire sauce
salt and black pepper

2-3 T. whole milk
1 lb. potatoes, boiled and mashed

Preheat oven to 425
Grease a medium casserole dish.
In a skillet, cook the onions in 2 T. butter until translucent.
Add the meat and cook until lightly browned.
Stir in stock, ketchup and worcestershire. Season with salt and pepper.

Melt the remaining butter and beat it with the milk into the mashed potatoes.

Put the meat in the baking dish and carefully spread the potato on top.
Make ridges on top of potato with a fork.
Bake near the top of the oven for 30 min. and potato is browned.

For a low carb version, I use cauliflower mash instead of potato.
