1 lb bag of dry pinto beans
Ham or Bacon
1 tsp.Salt to taste
1 Tbls. Chili powder to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Soak dry beans in hot water for a couple hours. Discard bad beans.

In a 6 qt pot add 2 qts water. (add more as you need)
Add ham or bacon, salt, chili powder and bring to a boil
Add beans and let boil for 5 min. Turn heat down to simmer
until beans are tender. Add water as needed.
Serve with hot cornbread and massed potatoes

Don't expect your brown beans to be done in an hour unless you are using a pressure cooker. This takes more time on the stove top, as in a couple hours. P.S. At Grandmother's you will get bacon in your beans!
