¾ cup olive oil
¼ cup wine vinegar
1 ½ tsp salt
¾ tsp sugar
¼ tsp basil
6 peppercorns
1 bay leaf
1 garlic clove
1 ½ ilbs mushrooms halved

Early in the day or even the night before:
In medium skillet over medium heat bring to a boil all ingredients except mushrooms. Simmer over low heat covered 10 minutes. Stir in mushrooms until coated, over medium heat. Cook 3-5 minutes or until fork tender. Refrigerate covered. At serving time drain off all liquid.
