2 peeled cloves garlic
3/4 lb diced Gryere cheese
1/2 cup milk
2 cups dry white wine
1 Tbsp. kirsch
salt
pepper
1 loaf french bread

Directions:
Directions:
Rub the sliced garlic around the sides and base of the cooking pan. Cook the cheese and milk over very low heat, stirring continuously with a wooden spoon, until the cheese melts and the mixture becomes smooth and creamy. Gradually blend in the wine and kirsch; season with the salt and pepper. Do not boil.

Heat the French bread in the oven until crisp. Cut it into 1-inch cubes. Use forks or skewers for dipping the bread into the cheese.

Makes 8-10 servings.
