6 tbsp cocoa
1 cup sugar, a little less
2½ c milk
4 egg yolks, saving whites for meringue
2 tbsp cornstarch and 2 tbsp flour
½ tsp salt
2 tbsp melted butter
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Combine cocoa, sugar, flour and cornstarch, mix well. Add beaten egg yolks and melted butter. Add milk and cook until almost to a boil. Add dry ingredients and vanilla. Cook until thickened.

Pour into a baked crust.

Meringue: beat egg whites with 2 tsp sugar per egg. Add a pinch of cream of tartar, if available. Spread on filling and bake until lightly browned.
