¾ C ( part Crisco, part butter)
1 C sugar
2 eggs
½ flavoring --vanilla, lemon, almond or any combo (peppermint if making above pictured candy cane)

2½ C flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt


**For Easter Egg painting = 1 egg white & 1 TBLS of colored water brushed on rolled out dough

**Can color dough using Wilton color paste (doesn't affect consistency)

*** if making above pictured candy cane, I add peppermint flavor to half of the dough, dying it red

Directions:
Directions:
Mix thoroughly shortening, sugar, eggs & flavoring.
Separately sift together flour, baking powder & salt.
Now, stir together.
Chill dough at least 1 hr --I prefer overnight
Preheat oven to 400ºF
Roll out dough to ⅛ thick
Cut into desired shapes.
Place on uncreased baking sheet.
Sprinkle with sugar, etc
Bake 6-8 min until lightly brown

***If making pictured candy cane...once baked & cooled,
dip cookie partially in melted almond bark & sprinkle with crushed candy canes or sprinkles
