2 ounces bacon, chopped (about ⅓ cup)
½ cup chopped onion
2 Tbsp. butter
1 cup whipping cream
1 cup artichoke hearts, halved
½ cup canned tomatoes, undrained, chopped
1 tsp. dried basil or marjoram leaves, crumbled
½ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. ground nutmeg
⅛ tsp. freshly ground black pepper
4 oz. cooked small shrimp or 1 can (4.5 oz) tiny shrimp, drained

Hot cooked pasta
Parmesan (to taste)

Cook and stir bacon and onion in butter in 2 qt. saucepan over medium heat until bacon is barely crisp, 3-5 minutes. Stir remaining ingredients except shrimp, pasta and Parmesan into bacon mixture. Heat to boiling; reduce heat and simmer uncovered until artichokes are tender and sauce is thickened, 8-10 minutes.

Stir shrimp into artichoke mixture. Heat until hot. Serve sauce over hot cooked pasta. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan to taste.

Makes 4-6 servings.
