* 1 refrigerated pie crust for a 10 inch pie
* 1/2 cup plus 2 Tbsp sugar
* 4 tsp cornstarch or minute tapioca
* 2 tsp cinnamon
* 5 cups peeled , thinly sliced Golden Delicious apples(or any other sweet baking apple)
* 1 tsp sugar ( to sprinkle on top of tart)
* 2 Tbsp chopped pecans

Place the pie crust in a 9 1/2 or 10 inch glass pie plate. In a bowl combine the first 3 filling ingredients, mix well. Add the apples and toss to coat , spoon the apple mixture onto the pie crust. Don't put any of the mixture within 2 inches of the edge of the pie crust. Fold the unfilled edges up and over part of the apples( the center of the tart is left open) and crimp with your fingers. Brush the crust edges with water; sprinkle the apples with the 1 tsp of sugar. Bake in a 375*f oven for 35 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Sprinkle pecans over apples and bake an additional 15 minutes or until apples are tender.
The tart will serve six.
