4 cups of cubed bread
1/2 cup raisins (optional)
3 eggs
1 (14 oz.) can of Sweetened Condensed milk (not evaporated milk)
3 medium apples peeled corned and finely chopped
1 1/4 cups of hot water
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
1 teaspooon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine bread cubes and raisins in a buttered 9 inch square baking pan
2. In a large bowl beat eggs, add condensed milk, apples, water, butter, cinnamon and vanilla. Stir well and then pour evenly over bread and raisins mixture, moistening completely.
3. Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool slightly. Can be served warm or at room temperature.
