2 Tbsp. yeast
1 cup warm water, divided
1 stick butter
⅔ cup sugar, plus 2 tsp. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Put 2 Tbsp. of yeast in 1/2 cup of warm water, add 2 tsp. sugar; set aside. Put 1 stick of butter in 1/2 cup HOT water & melt. Put 2/3 cup sugar, 2 eggs, 2 tsp. salt in a large bowl- mix. Add 1 cup of cold water, then add the butter/water mixture & then the yeast/ water/sugar mixture; mix; add 2 cups of flour and mix until you incorporate all the flour. Let rise- punch down once the dough has doubled in size. Make 6 long tube shaped pieces. Take 3 and braid your first loaf; repeat for the second loaf. Let rise again. Bake @ 350º for 20-30 minutes.

This is an older recipe, but a classic. It is a little sweet, not a dessert bread; just a great addition to any meal.
